What is Flat Lay photography?

Flat-lay photography is a lifestyle of photography where items are arranged on a flat surface and then photographed from a bird's eye perspective. 
For my flat lay, I chose a makeup theme because I love my makeup. I use the makeup in my photos almost every day and I thought it'd be nice to photograph them.
To me these objects are very significant to me because they represent myself, I have always loved makeup even since I was a young girl.
My photoshoot was Successful because I met the requirements and it looks nice.
Next time I would give more lighting into my photos, I failed on the lighting and I will change that next time.
